Shiraz Boghani a Passionate Hotelier and Committed Philanthropist

     Mr. Shiraz Boghani was named Hotelier of the Year at the Asian Business Awards of 2016. Mr. Boghani holds over 30 years’ experience in the hospitality business and is credited with being among the hoteliers who first introduced limited service branded hotels in London in the 1990’s. Mr. Boghani is a qualified chartered accountant and entrepreneur with a keen interest in the hospitality industry. He currently owns and manages 19 hotels in total in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Boghani has been involved in many amazing projects in the recent past, which culminated in him receiving the prestigious award. Some of these include the development and launch of the multi-million Euro Hilton London Bankside. As the name indicates, this new ambitious hotel project will be based in London’s Bankside. Other flagship projects that Mr. Boghani has been involved in the recent past include The Grand Hotel & Spa, Spa, York and Holiday Inn London – Wembley and The Conrad London St James. He also made some acquisitions to add to his hotel portfolio, including the Mercure Bristol Brigstow Hotel and the New Ellington in Leeds.

Mr. Boghani is also a committed supporter and major contributor to the Agha Khan Foundation, a registered charity organization in the UK and the Aga Khan Development Network on a global level.

Of the award, Shiraz Boghani said that he was excited to be recognized for the effort, time and resources that he had put in developing his hotel businesses. He said that hotels were his lifetime work and revealed that he could never have achieved such great success without the help and support of his family. He also showered praise on his executive and management teams in all of his hotels for their great commitment to organizational goals and the growth of his hotel empire.

Shiraz Boghani is originally from the East African country of Kenya. He immigrated to the United Kingdom in 1969 and began his training in accounting with a small team of chartered accountants. He went on to work at Thomson McLintock& Co, the firm which has now come to be known as KPMG. Mr. Boghan always had a keen eye for development and was quick to identify business opportunities that set him on the entrepreneurial path. He was among the founders of the Sussex Health Care in 1985. The medical facility has grown over the years to comprise of 18 care homes and over 500 beds. He is also a committed philanthropist, offering funds and support to many charitable organizations both in the UK and around the world.
