Giuliana and Bill: And Baby Makes 3

For years, fans have watched as entertainment news anchor Giuliana Rancic and her husband Bill have tried desperately to have a baby. On Monday, the happy couple was finally able to say the words, “We are having a baby!”

The stars of reality television show, “Giuliana and Bill” appeared on NBC’s today show Monday morning to officially announce that they are having a baby. After 3 years of trying to conceive, fertility treatments, a heartbreaking miscarriage, and failed IVF treatments, the couple finally has a baby on the way via a gestational surrogate. The baby was made using Giuliana’s embryos and will be their child genetically.

The Rancic’s are no stranger to the Today Show, having made multiple appearances in the past year to announce that Giuliana had been diagnosed with breast cancer, that she was undergoing a double mastectomy, and that she was cancer free.

The Rancic’s have always been open about their struggle to have a baby, allowing cameras to document their every move for their reality show. Fans have watched, prayed, and cried right along with them throughout their entire journey to get the baby they so desperately wanted.

The much-anticipated Vaby Rancic will be arriving late this summer and though the couple already knows the gender, their lips are sealed, for now.

The Price of a Coke is a hug

Despite all the technological advances we have experienced in machines over the last few years, the day has not yet come when machines will express emotions. But, humans do continue to express emotions, especially when something good happens to them.

The Coca Cola distribution company in Singapore decided that it was their responsibility, as a leading consumer product distributor, to do more than supply a popular beverage. They also want to make people feel good. Creative advertising simply cannot achieve that goal. So, the next best way is using the product itself.

In a special campaign designed to spread happiness throughout Singapore, the distributors are re-designing their vending machines. The traditional red and white logo emblazoned on the front of the machine has been changed. Rather than the words “Coca Cola”, the logo bears the words “Hug Me.” When a person spreads their arms and gives the machine a big hug from both sides, the hug activates a set of internal springs and the hugger is rewarded with a free can of Coke.

Representatives of Coca Cola refuse to reveal how many free cans of Coke they are going to distribute but a spokesman for the company said that the price is quite low relative to the large amount of happiness.

Firefighters Continue to Save Lives

For firefighters everywhere, saving lives is the essential aspect of their profession. But, five Albuquerque, NM firefighters have shown that saving lives is not only a profession; it is also a central part of who they are.

Ten minutes before the sales closed for the recent Mega Millions Lottery, the firefighters decided to try their luck and buy several tickets. When Captain Jed Hyland ran into Station Eight yelling that they had hit five of the six numbers and had won a $10,000 share of the jackpot, the other members of the crew thought that this was the Captain’s idea of an April Fools Day joke. But, indeed they had one. And, almost immediately, the five winners knew what they were going to do with their winnings.

Fellow firefighter, Vince Cordova, is suffering from a rare, life threatening brain tumor, and faces the third round of surgery that will hopefully save his life. The very expensive, 10-hour operation will be funded, in part, by the Firefighters’ Survival Fund. A portion of the lottery winnings are being directed to the Fund in order to help Vince.

Vince’s friends hope that their ability to share their good fortune with Vince will encourage others to help as well and, hopefully, will bring him good fortune in his treatment.
