Francisco Domenech Puerto Rico’s Strongest Political Ally

Francisco Domenech is not a household name, not yet anyway. The 40-something politician has held important positions throughout the Democratic party, and yet, little to no one knows who he is.

Not only has he served the Democratic party tremendously over the past few years, he has dedicated his life to it, serving the Young Democrats of America as their Democratic National Committeeman, as well as the President of the Puerto Rico Young Democrats.

Although his name may be obscure, Franciso Domenech is not. Born April 29, 1978, Domenech spent a portion of his childhood in Ocala, Florida before leaving to study Political Science at the University of Puerto Rico in 1999. Later in 2003, Domenech would obtain his Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law.

During his years in college, Domenech participated in student government in a variety of positions including, President of the General Student Body Council, and Academic Senator before the UPR Academic Senate.

In 2005, Domenech was appointed the Director of the Office of Legislative Services of Puerto Rico, a position that enabled him to help streamline the office’s procedures, making it run more efficiently. Visit to learn more.

During his tenure, Domenech oversaw a staff of 130 employees and managed an $11 million budget. His proposed changes included expanded the Office’s Tomas Bonilla Legislative Library and enabled access to the library for people suffering from disabilities.

Domenech maintained his position with the Young Democrats of America for an unprecedented seven years, during which he participated in the Democratic National Convention as a delegate four times, including 2008 and 2012 when he served as a superdelegate.

Later he would work closely with Hillary Clinton in both her presidential campaigns in 2008 and 2016, respectively. In 2007, Clinton appointed him to co-chair her campaign’s Hillblazers. In 2016, Domenech served on the National Finance Committee for Hillary Clinton, and as co-finance chair of Ready for Hillary.

Currently, Domenech is a managing partner of POLITANK, a law firm specializing in government affairs. He is also a regular contributor and commenter in Puerto Rico publications such as El Nuevo Dia, El Vocero, and Puerto Rico TV.Watch:
